Down on the Farm

Our dear friends the Christies invited the kids out to their farm to play on Saturday. They were able to hold baby chicks, ride horses, go on a hay ride and pretty much have have the best day ever!!!  Walker was at home resting, so SHHHH, don't tell him about what he missed!!!

What a fabulous time with amazing friends! Thanks Jeff, Patty and Cadden for being such generous hosts and giving the kids such a special, memorable day!!!

Easter 2016

I have listen to "Death Was Arrested" by Northpoint InsideOut on repeat throughout this Easter season. I tear up every single time as I think about the goodness and love of our Father.  I posted these lyrics on Instagram yesterday, "Our Savior displayed on a criminals cross. Darkness rejoiced as though heaven had lost. But then Jesus arose with our freedom in hand. That's when death was arrested and my life began. That's when death was arrested and my life began!"  I'm so overwhelmed with gratitude because we get to be Easter people and live in the freedom of Jesus!!!

A few Easter 2016 snaps....

(Walker was more interested in putting on comfy clothes as opposed to having another picture made when we got home. You win some, you lose some.)

Easter Happenings

Our Easter weekend started off in the OR. Walker had his tonsils and adenoids taken out on Good Friday. Bless his little heart, the doctor said both were enormous and his tonsils were twice the size that they appeared to be from the front. Yikes. No wonder he snored like a bear and constantly breathed with his mouth open!
He did amazingly well and is feeling great. He has only mentioned his mouth hurting a couple of times but otherwise, he is acting like business as usual. We are so very thankful for that (and also completely understand that the wheels could fall off at any moment and he could feel miserable, but for now, we are enjoying the good days!)
We made Resurrection Rolls and loved every minute of it!  Such a fun and yummy project!
The girls went for a visit to our friend's farm on Saturday (separate post to come with all those fun pictures). The girls wanted their pictures by their chalk wall creation before they left for their farm adventure.

My little bunnies all fresh and clean and ready for bed!
They checked out their buckets on Easter morning.
This pretty much sums up the kids...EK is thrilled for new books....
And Walker is excited for candy....
And Emma just smiles about life!!!
Before getting dressed for church, we opened the last Resurrection Egg. These have been fabulous to do each day during our devo time.  We were also happy to have Nana with us as we opened the last egg.
"It's empty!!!!"  So very thankful for this little reminder that the tomb was empty!!  Frank said this in his sermon yesterday and I just love it, "the tomb is empty now our lives don't have to be!"  That's good stuff!!!

School Egg Hunts

All 3 kids had Easter egg hunts today and I am fairly confident they have eaten their weight in candy as a result of their collections. #PleaseDon'tJudgeMe

Love, love, love these happy little faces.....

Wee Dee Gee Egg Hunt

Mom and I took the kids to the Wee Dee Gee egg hunt that our Jackson alumni chapter put on yesterday. It was a smallish gathering which allowed for overflowing buckets for the kids.
They had a fabulous time hunting eggs....even if it was a tad bit chilly!

Immediately after finding their loot, the kids all sat down around little tables and dug in to their treats. These three little legacies (and their brothers) are all in the same Sunday school class at church. It's so fun to get to make connections through DG all these years later!
I sure do love my little bunnies!

Palm Sunday

Wow!  Yesterday was a powerful day of worship at our church!  The music was amazing both in the morning service and during the Night of Worship service our band led last night. Frank's message was such a solid word and the kids got to parade in with their palm branches. It was a special time with our church family and I can only imagine how incredible next Sunday will be!!!  I'm so excited!

Here are a couple of Sunday snaps....

#NoBowNoGo....does Walker remind anyone else of Dennis the Menace in this picture?!?!? Say a little prayer for him if you will. He will have his tonsils and adenoids out on Good Friday.😔
The palm branches provided a lot of laughter after the service. Nothing like some precious, well behaved preacher's kids waiting patiently for daddy to finish visiting with the church members😉

Quick Trip to NOLA

When our trip fell through, my parents decided they should take the big kids and go to New Orleans for the night.

Once they made their way to The Big Easy and got all checked in at the hotel, they ventured out to ride the streetcar which is always a favorite with my kids.
They made their way to the Riverwalk and did a little shopping and eating.
The next morning, they went to check out the zoo.
The elephants, white alligators and white tigers were their favorite animals to see.
Thanks to G and Kay Kay for such a fun adventure for the kids!  They loved every minute!

Salvaging Spring Break

We asked EK what she wanted to do since her trip was no more. She promptly responded with a trip to the Natural Science Museum, Lost Pizza, and Barnes and Noble. So, that's exactly what we did and had a fabulous time in doing so. Mom, Haley, EK and I braved the flash flooding in our area to do some exploring at the museum. I guess this was the first time we had gone since EK started reading so she was very interested in reading about each exhibit!
My favorite spot in the whole place....
EK wanted to take this picture to show her brother since his love for alligators runs deep.

The rain let up for a few minutes so we walked around the trails for a bit.

EK would probably say that reading is her favorite thing to do, but she is quite a fan of science and history as well. She loved these microscopes.
EK's buddy Asher is obsessed with all things deer and hunting, so she sent him this picture. She knows the way to his heart!  Bless it!!!
The dinosaur egg exhibit was really interesting. They had a fairly large collection of fossils from all over China. None were from Emma's province put several were from Guangdong and Henan which is where several of our friends are from. Pretty cool!
EK liked hatching out of the egg chair and sitting in the nest.

Future paleontologist, perhaps?
I am so thankful that there are opportunities around town to explore and learn. The Natural Science Museum is fabulous and we had a blast playing together.
