Emma's Garage Sale

As I sit here, I am completely in awe of how the Lord had His hands on our efforts this weekend to raise support to bring our Emma home.  Over the last 2-3 weeks, treasures have been pouring in to our garage.  Each day I would come home to find bags, boxes, furniture and more stacked to the ceiling of our garage.  Sometimes I would know who had been so generous, other times, I had not a clue.  But to all of those kind people, we are thankful.  I knew that we would have some AWESOME merchandise for our sale because of our gracious friends and family.  Now, everyone kept telling me not to get too excited or have too high of expectations because there were several things NOT working in our favor.  First of all, it was not the first weekend in the month and several people told me this would automatically cause trouble.  Second of all, the forecast looked fairly grim as well.  40% chance of rain was predicted for sale time.  Not so pleasant!!! Anyway, I spent the week just in prayer that God would just work these hiccups out as only He could.  Well, I am happy to report that He provided in a major way for us and blessed our sale far beyond our wildest dreams!!!!  As Aunt Carolyn, Mom, J, some sweet friends and I were attempting to get things organized on Friday morning (like 7:30 am), people started flooding in to our yard...mind you, the garage sale was set to begin the next morning at 6am.  Well, with things in no real order and prices made up on the fly, we started selling things left and right.  It was chaos, but we just went with it.  As the last person left at 9:30 pm with flashlights in hand, I thanked Jesus for providing so many shoppers and I just assumed that was His way of providing since rain was still in the forecast.  We made it to bed finally, sore, tired, and sunburned.  When we got outside at 5:15 the next morning, the air was damp and I didn't really know what the day would bring.  People started arriving and did their shopping by the light of their cell phones.  The sun came up and the sky was clear and GORGEOUS!!!! It was a perfect day and the shoppers continued to flood our little sale.  By noon, there were only a few items left.  One of the last people shopping mentioned that her church just down the road was having a garage sale fundraiser the next weekend for a mission trip fundraiser.  We got in touch with the youth minister who brought his trailer and picked up the remainder of our things.  YEAH!!!!  We were so overwhelmed by how generous some people were and are so very thankful that because of this weekend's efforts, we are that much closer to our Emma!!! We are excited to report that with the donations we had received before the sale, and with the proceeds from the sale, we are a little more than 20% funded!!!!
There are so many people who made this weekend possible.  Countless people donated items and got the word out about the sale.  Our sweet friends Stacy Wallace, Louise Meyer, and Lauren Hutto came and sorted things and got everything organized.  My precious best friend Kristen (in the white hat below) worked her tail off and is the queen of garage sales! We seriously could not have made it without her!!!! My Mom, Dad, and Aunt Carolyn were absolute troopers and "thank you" is simply not enough.  They are amazing!!!!  Wesley Walton and his precious mom Dawn brought us dinner and Wesley entertained EK for HOURS!!!! He even slept in our driveway to protect the goods on Friday night! AMAZING!!!!  Taylor and Lauren from my d-group came to help for a while as well.  Countless people were praying for this weekend's success, and we could feel it!!!! We are so blessed to have so many people willing to walk alongside us in this journey!!!!
Sweet Joanna Keith and Elleigh took Ella Kate with them for donuts and a fun play date while we were super busy.  That was such a huge help!!!

Mrs. Mary Anna took Walker to Columbus for several days which was so helpful. I love my little guy, but we were a lot more efficient without the little monkey getting in to anything and everything.  From the looks of things, he had quite a fun time at Nana's!!!!!! Thank you so much to Nana and Pop....they will sleep well this week, no doubt!!!!

Our garage sale was definitely a team effort and we so appreciate all of the people who helped to make Emma's sale such a huge success!!!! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!

SBW

I just love going to Starkville.  I love getting to see family and friends, and of course love to see the Dawgs play.  We spent Saturday at Super Bulldog Weekend and we had such a fun time.  We went by Haley's apartment to visit for a bit before the baseball game.  How is it that Baby Haley will be graduating college in 3 weeks??? I mean, she was in the 3rd grade when I graduated high school...yikes...I am old.  Congrats to this pretty girl too because she landed her first teaching job at Madison Station!!! WOO HOO!!!!
Walker is obsessed with his Kay Kay and got lots of extra attention while EK and G went to get ice cream.

We had a blast at the baseball game and enjoyed getting to see the Diamond Dawgs beat up on Auburn.  It is truly a special place to watch baseball and thanks to 14,000+ fans at the game, MSU now holds the top 10 spots for largest attendance in NCAA baseball history!!! We love our baseball in Starkville!!!!

We got to visit with the Gordons for a few minutes.  There were so many people that it made it a little difficult to play though.  Always great to hug their necks even if only for a minute!!!

We got to visit with the Sykes crew too. It was great to have all the extra hands to keep my 2 entertained during the game!!!
We missed the football scrimmage but I am already counting down the days until the season starts.  My favorite little punter will be a senior this year....and he got ENGAGED yesterday!!!! We love you Baker!!!!

We got to go to a grown up dinner with some of my absolute favorite people in the whole world!
We had a yummy Cock of the Walk dinner with Papaw and fed the ducks enough fried food to make their little stomachs either explode or need a serious Pepto fix.

We are enjoying this gorgeous weather.

And finally....IT IS GARAGE SALE FUNDRAISER WEEK!!!!  This should be a pretty crazy week of preparations but we are so excited and hopeful for a great sale!!! I will keep you posted!!!

Re(claimed) Project

I want to encourage you to take a few minutes and check out this video for an organization that is living out the gospel.  I am so proud of my precious friends Wes and Meaghan Gordon, and also my cousin Brad for being instrumental in getting this orphan care ministry off the ground.  I know it seems like all I am doing lately is asking for money, but it is truly amazing what $27 a month can do for a country so in need of the basic essentials of life and even more so, a people in need of the gospel.  Giving hope to the hopeless and caring for the forgotten...that's what it is all about!!!!

Walker is 11 Months Old

How can this be?? We are one month away from my baby turning ONE!!!! CRAZY how fast time flies the second go around!!!  We have had a busy month trying to keep up with this little busy body.  He is only still while sleeping.  This wild man even crawled out of his crib over the weekend.  Seriously??? What are we going to do with him?  He is walking but still chooses to crawl because it is so much faster.  He has become a climber as well.  He climbs into chairs, window sills, up stairs, and step ladders, onto boxes, and basically anything else he can hoist himself on top of.  Luckily, he is the best sleeper because we are exhausted after chasing him around all day.  He is still sleeping 13+ hours at night with a short nap in the morning and a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.  Food is another area in which he is thriving.  He has not met a food that he does not like...with the exception of meat sticks...vomit...but my mother insisted we try!!!  His favorites right now are carrots, bananas, yogurt, nutrigrain bars, sliced pairs, mandarin oranges, and green beans.  After eating, a bath is usually necessary.  This dude LOVES the tub!!! He has also learned the meaning of the word "no" during this time because he thinks standing up is the way to go in the tub.  His favorite toy right now is a big plastic finger pointer that was in Ella Kate's toys, and basically anything else that Ella Kate has.  He is obsessed with his blanket and loves to play peek-a-boo with it.  He gets so tickled as he covers his face and pulls the blanket down as I ask where Walker is.  So funny. He is wearing mainly 9 month clothing, but can wear a couple of his 12 month things.  His new sandals are a size 2.  Chunky feet!!!! He got his first haircut this month.  Bye bye baby mullet!!!! He is such a little social butterfly and flirt! He grins and waves at everyone, and talks constantly.   We are just so in love with our little guy and party preparation are in full swing!
