Summer Randomness

I can hardly believe that our summer is beginning to wind down so quickly! We are so enjoying life these days and we seem to find a million things to keep us busy!!! Where to begin?  Since my last post, I hit a pretty large milestone.  Yep, I'm 30 now.  WOW! I used to think 30 was soooo old....now, not so much! I had a fabulous day thanks to my sweet family and friends.  Mom even drove down to Hburg to keep the kids so J and I could go out to eat.  Pure bliss.  Have I mentioned before how much I miss living in the same town as our family????? Anyway, the next day, mom took Ella Kate back to Madison for some special Ella Kate time.  She was SUPER excited to go and she had a blast going to Chunky Cheese (that is what my Mamaw always called it, therefore I still refer to it as that! And as a side note...when did they change their pizza to gas station pizza??? Gross!), playing at the park, watching Sprout, and just being the princess for a little while.

While Ella Kate was away, we got to enjoy some good snuggles with this little dude.  I could just eat him up he is so sweet! We also took on a pretty substantial project at the church.  With the help of some students and some adults we suckered in, we painted all the youth Sunday School and small group classrooms, and our youth worship space.  This was quite the undertaking, but the end result is a ton better than before we started.

This week, J and the students have been participating in Missions Hattiesburg.  They have been doing all sorts of service projects around town.  The Nelsons came down to keep the kids so that I could help J  at Missions Hattiesburg.  The students did an amazing job painting, building, doing yard work, picking veggies at the local food pantry, doing backyard Bible clubs, and lots of other things.  It is truly awesome to see so many high school kids give up part of their summer to serve those around them.

We also want to give a big shout out to Auntie Jordan!!!! She takes the BAR EXAM NEXT WEEK!!!! We know she will do a FABULOUS job!!!! We love you Jo!!! As Daddy says, "take names and kick butt!!!"
Aunt Carolyn stopped by today and Ella Kate was beyond excited.  Thanks to Aunt Carolyn for the new "jewels" that EK is sporting! They accent her favorite leotard perfectly!!!!

And just for fun...here is Ella Kate showing off her dinner from tonight.  She said, "Thank you Mommy.  This is so yummo!"  I guess we may have the Food Network and our dear "friend" Rachel Ray on a bit too much!!! Oh well!!
Here's to a great rest of the summer!!!!

Puddle Jumpin'

Happy 2 Months Walker!

Walker is 2 months old today! He has had a very busy month!!! We are hoping to slow down a bit now!! Walker did a great job on the long car ride to and from North Carolina. He did a lot of sleeping, so that pretty much sent his sleep schedule out the window. He DOES NOT like to go to sleep at night, but luckily once we get him down, he will sleep 6-7 hours. Last night, he slept 8 hours! Can i get an amen??? He loves to eat and it showed at his 2 month checkup! 11.4 lbs and 22 1/4 in!!! He has some pretty squeezable rolls on those legs and I could just eat him up!!! We did have to change Walker's formula. We experienced the week from you know where when he was 5 weeks old. Screaming, crying, nothing could soothe him...it was terrible!!! Luckily, switching to another formula that was for more sensitive tummies seemed to do the trick. Thank goodness because it was pretty miserable for everyone!!!! I love that he is so much more alert now and really seems to be taking in his surroundings. It melts my heart to see him smile!! Ella Kate is still doing a great job as the big sister. She is really funny! For instance, when he cries she will say "maybe he just needs to poo poo!". The answer to everything, right? We love you sweet Brother Bear!!!

Happy Birthday America!

We had a fabulous 4th! It was super low key which was great after our busy weekend of traveling.  J has been with the youth group doing a mission trip, so the kids and I hung out with my parents.

Ella Kate loved the fireworks.  Walker...not so much! Oh well, maybe next year!!!!

Mr. and Mrs. Pleasant--Part 3

Katie looked absolutely stunning!  As her daddy put it, she was the "hottest" bride thanks to the 105 degree temperature in Charlotte.  Yep...the hottest day in Charlotte history, and we were there for an outdoor wedding.  Good times people!!!!

Our sweet friend Jennifer Parsons let us borrow this precious dress that belonged to her girls.  It was so beautiful!!!!
This little girl loves her daddy so much!!
Meet Truett.  He is Adam's cousin and he was the ring bearer.  He was seriously cute and these two had a great time together.  Truett said, "I will walk down the aisle with her, but I'm not marrying her!!"
I mean really, could they be any cuter?
The Jones crew before the ceremony.
My two boys...LOVE

These two decided to rest their feet before all the dancing began.
The Mother of the Bride--Aunt Diane
My sweet little family
The Porter grandkids...minus Tyler
Ella Kate was cracking me up! As Katie and Adam had their first dance, everyone was taking pictures. EK got her camera out as well and starting taking pictures.  She would snap and say, "I got it!"  Too funny!!!
We had some fun in the photo booth.
Then it was time to dance.  Ella Kate was the dancing queen for sure.
This just melts my heart!

When I asked EK what she was going to do with Truett, expecting to hear that she would walk down the aisle, she told me, "we are going to dance together."  They were darling!

Ella Kate would have stayed on the dance floor all night!  She even fell asleep in J's arms as they danced!

I do not have any pictures from the actual ceremony because we were all so focused on getting Ella Kate down the aisle.  I ended up walking down with her and she was adorable.  She dropped approximately 5 pedals as she walked. She had the biggest grin on her face and she would put her hands up because she was so teased.  Everyone got so tickled and of course thought she was the cutest thing ever.  Randoms were asking to take her picture at the reception.  The ceremony was perfect...HOT but perfect.  I am anxious to see the photographers pictures!!!!

We are so very excited for Katie and Adam as they begin their new life together and we are thankful to have been a part of their special day!!!!

Mr. and Mrs. Pleasant--Part 2

Katie and Adam's wedding was held at The Duke Mansion in Charlotte, NC.  All I can say is "WOW!!!"  It was absolutely gorgeous.  If Katie would have been on "4 Weddings," this venue would have scored a perfect 10!  It was also super convenient that all the wedding weekend events took place at the mansion and we stayed there as well.

After a yummy brunch on Saturday morning, we went outside to explore a bit.
Ella Kate was beside herself because she had Jordan and Haley to play with her.

The grounds of the mansion were stunning!  Tons of flowers, a vegetable garden, little seating areas, and even a playground were some of the things we found.
We were also able to just relax with family and friends.

Walker got in some snuggles with Aunt Carolyn.
He has started smiling so much in the last week  Love it!!!!
Aunt Ellen and Papaw got in on the cuddling too.  We were blessed to have so much help with the kiddos!!!

Now on to the wedding.....
