We met up with my Aunt Carolyn, Aunt Ellen and Uncle Allen for a yummy breakfast at Primos last week. It is always so great to sneak in a little visit when they are passing through town. Yall come back soon!!
My sweet little loves!
Emma had an appointment at UMC with her cleft team last Wednesday. We met with audiologists, plastics, dentist, and speech therapist. Our time was really informative and I feel like we have a better understanding of what we are dealing with concerning Emma's palate.
Her palate is short, meaning the roof of her mouth does not go back far enough into her throat. This makes speech difficult because the sounds escape through her nose as opposed to how they should be made. Because her palate was so wide open when she came to us, it will take several procedures to get the amount of tissue she needs to complete her palate. She had 2 surgeries this year to close her palate (they took tissue from her cheeks and in her nose). They will do another surgery next year to hopefully lengthen her palate so she is able to speak correctly. Does that make any sense? In the meantime, we will continue speech therapy. She is leaning the correct ways to use her mouth and tongue so once she her palate is corrected, the basics are in place for her to easily transition to proper speech.
Moving on....we love play dates!!!! Walker must have been too busy for a picture but he had a big time playing with the girls as well!
EK got to celebrate her friend's birthday with a little swim party action. She must have gone down the giant water slide 50 times!
EK and her first grade buddies partied at Pump it Up!

Mary Anna spent this week with us and we could not have made it without her! She entertained the kids while I worked and had all the back to school meetings each day. She cooked, cleaned, ironed and kept the littles busy all day, everyday and we are so very thankful for her willingness to help us!!
