Firemen and Friends

Today was an eventful day around the Nelson house.  This week was "Learn Not To Burn Week" at the preschool, so every day Fireman Billy has come to teach the children all about fire safety.  Ella Kate  has been all about it and has taken Fireman Billy's instructions to "teach" the parents very seriously...nevermind the fact that I have been sitting in the same room hearing the exact same thing from him!!!  

 Fireman Billy brought all his gear to model for the kids.  They thought it was hilarious when he put on the mask.  He also brought some firefighter friends and the big truck for the classes to see!!!

 Ella Kate and Elleigh were beside themselves all week because today was the day for their play date at our house....as if there wasn't enough excitement for one day already =)

 On top of all the fire safety activities, today was "Read Across America Day" aka Dr. Seuss' birthday. My dear J dressed up as the Cat in the Hat and read to the classes.  They LOVED him!!!! He's pretty awesome, if I do say so myself!!!!

After school, the girls and I enjoyed a yummy Chick Fil A lunch and then dessert at 32 degrees.  Once we got home, they immediately got into the dress up clothes .  They did makeup, played with the princess Barbies and castle, played paper dolls and Candy Land, and several other princess themed activities...shocking right?? I may or may not have had to be the prince and go outside the bedroom window to try and rescue them from the tower where they were being held prisoner.

It was gorgeous today, so they did a little playing outside as well.  Ella Kate introduced Elleigh to one of her favorite pass times....chunking pine cones in the lake.  They had a blast all day and played so well together.  I am so very thankful that EK has such a sweet friend!!!!

And this little guy...he just loves his truck!!!!  He was such a good sport while the girls played and he had quite a big time trying to keep up with them.  The good news....all that playing today made for an early bedtime for the Nelson kiddos...6:15 and they were both done!!!!!
