Turkey Day Program

We had our little Thanskgiving open house and program at preschool this week. Each age group sang a couple of songs. They were precious!
Check out that turkey leg hat😂😂😂
I can't believe this was W's last open house!  He has loved his time at our little school but he is sooooo ready to join EK at big school. Emma won't be far behind him😪  My babies are growing up so quickly!
Good times with these little turkeys (poor big sister turkey misses all the fun while she is at school). We are all excited for a break from school so we can spend this next week hanging out together!

Emma the Brave

It's been a busy month for the bravest 4 year old around. When we met with our surgeon in Jackson in September, he told us there was nothing more he could do surgically to help get her more closure and improve her speech. The previous procedures did not do what they needed to do, so Emma was still not able to build up enough pressure for the sound to come through her mouth instead of her nose. While she has improved since we started having procedures, it is still difficult for people to understand what she is saying. Our speech therapists encouraged us to seek a second opinion so we went to meet with a surgeon in Birmingham. We met with him on a Thursday. He scoped her and determined that her P Flap had failed and there were several openings that needed to be repaired. So, he scheduled surgery for the very next week!  It was all a whirlwind of a few days but we were thrilled to have a plan and HOPE.  We arrived at Children's early on a Wednesday for this sweet baby's 7th surgery in 4 years! She's an absolute rock star!
She did a lot of this in pre op.
And we played quite a bit too while we waited.
We were blown away by the amazing staff at the hospital. They were truly incredible and helped calm all of our nerves during our time. Brave girl didn't even shed a tear going back to the OR!
Recovery is always about the same for Em. She wakes up really easily from her anesthesia and then she takes about a two hour nap. Once she wakes up from her nap, she wants her popsicles. All the popsicles. And ice cream. She knows the key to getting discharged is fluid intake so she gets to work. Usually within a couple of hours, she gives us a smile and her personality comes through. She gets all the screen time while we are there and I don't think she hates it😉.   We had the best nurses who made her feel like a queen!
The next morning, our doctor came by and said from the looks of things, our girl was good to go home!  She scarfed down some eggs while we waited on  our discharge paperwork and then we were out of there!

Now we just wait for her swelling to go down to see if this procedure helps her get the closure she needs. She will go back next week for a follow up and until then, it's all the soft foods for our sweet girl. Thank you to everyone who prayed for our Em and encouraged us through all of this.

'Tis the Season

We attended the children's event at Mistletoe yesterday morning. We got to visit with Santa

The kids wrote their Christmas lists.

We got to visit with precious friends.

Ballet Mississippi performed several pieces from their Nutcracker. EK LOVED every second of it!  I keep forgetting that she never actually gets to watch the Nutcracker.

Mistletoe is such a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season. Now if only I could finish my shopping and somehow find the energy to pull out all the decorations, I would be all set!

Halloween 2017

Well, the day has come where my children have strong opinions as to their halloween costumes. I knew this day would come, but I was just hoping for one more year😉.  Since we couldn't agree on one theme for all three, we agreed on two Dynamic Duo costumes.

EK was dead set on being Belle in the blue dress because of their shared love of reading.
She convinced Em to be her Chip. I can't even.
That pose!!!
W has a deep passion for the series Ocean Mysteries on Netflix, so it was no surprise when he said he wanted to be a scuba diver....with a real wetsuit. He wanted to be authentic😂
What would a scuba diver be without the shark he is studying?!?! Big shoutout to cousin Moose for being W's Halloween buddy!  He was a good sport to wear that shark costume!  #NotALamdshark

J's Uncle Jim made W's air tank and it could not have been more perfect!
We took lots of pictures before heading out for the candy collecting fun.

We loved having the shark's mommy and Daddy with us!  Thanks for bringing him!
Kay Kay and G handled the candy distribution at our house while we made the block. Thanks, y'all!

Let's do This!

My kids have the best little friends in our neighborhood.

We had a great night with friends and family. Surely we will come down from the sugar high soon!

Halloween at the Preschool

You know what makes preschool even more fun and exciting?!? Just throw in some costumes and candy!  It won't make school into a nut house at all!!!
We always pick a different costume to wear to school so we don't get our other costumes dirty. Walker wanted to be a doctor this year. I can't get over that scrub cap! So cute.
Little Bit wanted to be a ladybug. Serisouly, so precious!
The kids trick or treated through the church offices.
J was the most festive of all in his Jack Sparrow get up!
We finished off the Halloween fun with parties in the classrooms.
W said Ms Jones was the prettiest witch he had ever seen. He's so smitten!
